Similar to the first and second SEISS grants, the third SEISS grant will also be subject to Income Tax and self-employed National Insurance. Alongside the first and second grants, the third SEISS grant should be reported on your 2020/21 Self Assessment tax returns (filing deadline 31 January 2022).
Where you also claim Universal Credit (UC), the Self-Employed Income Support Scheme grant should be reported to DWP in the month the grant is paid and may affect the amount of UC received.

• Statutory sick pay - Any business with fewer than 250 employees will have the cost of providing 14 days of statutory sick pay (per employee) refunded by the government in full. It will also apply from day one rather than the usual day four of illness — even if individuals have no symptoms.

• Hardship fund - A £500 million hardship fund is to be made available through local authorities.

Employers - Please be aware of the following new legislation as it applies from today.
The government has introduced what it claims to be the biggest package of workplace reforms for 20 years after concerns that ministers have failed to appeal to voters who are “just about managing”.
Legislation that comes into effect today will ensure:
- Employers give workers details of their rights from the first day in their job, including eligibility for paid and sick leave
- Workers are given the right to request more predictable hours
- Measures will be taken to ensure that seasonal workers get the paid time off they are entitled to
- Iincreased fines of up to £20,000 for employers who have deliberately victimised their staff
The reforms, outlined by the business secretary Greg Clark, plan to stop the “unfair” use of pay-between-assignment contracts which allow businesses to opt out of equal pay arrangements for agency employees.
